It is also a component of herbal tonics that have widely been marketed in Brazil since the past twenty years. This review aims to provide a compilation of all available information about the plant including its botany, chemical constituents, and traditional uses, scientifically proven pharmacological activities, toxicological considerations and future prospects for research.
